Arc de TriompheBack to the list
The famous venue for large national gatherings. Commissioned by Napoleon I in 1806, the Arc de Triomphe was inaugurated in 1836 by the French King, Louis-Philippe, who dedicated it to the armies of the Revolution and the Empire. The Unknown Soldier was buried below the vault in 1921. The eternal flame is rekindled each day at 6:30pm.
