You may have read already: Center Parcs is ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 certified. And since 1999, which made us the first tourist organization in Europe to be awarded it. Naturally we’re very proud of it. But what does it actually mean?
The whole organization under scrutiny
ISO 14001 is an international standard that is recognized worldwide. Companies that want to be certified set up their own environmental management system and then ask independent experts to come and assess it. Each group entity is certified ; it means that all of Center Parcs’ 21 parks and the head office are therefore regularly scrutinized: one third every year. The ISO 14001 auditors assess all of our efforts with regard to sustainability - what we’re currently doing, and what we’re planning to do in the future. They check the consistency between our environmental objectives and their operational implementation.
For instance, we are focused on reducing our energy and water consumptions and increasing our waste sorting in order to decrease our carbon footprint.
Because we continue to expand and improve our green efforts, we get a new certificate every three years. That way you know that you are enjoying a sustainable holiday in a park where nature and biodiversity come first. And your children will be able to do the same with their children. ISO 14001 is your guarantee.
The ISO 50001 describes the new Center Parcs energy management system. This is how the use of our energy and water use and our energy production is monitored and reported. The entire energy system is also checked by a certification body (TS SWISS).
